The Portuguese newspaper Público recently launched the 1ªHora project, an initiative designed to update readers on the main news of the day in just a few minutes.

From Monday to Friday, the editorial team selects the day’s main stories (between five and ten) to be presented to readers and subscribers in summary format. These summaries are generated automatically by generative AI models, but undergo human supervision and review before being published on the website.

With this tool, the newspaper presents the day’s news in four or five paragraphs, with a link at the end allowing readers to access the full article.
