The call for papers is now open for the II EPEA – International Seminar Public Sphere in the Age of Algorithms, which this year is dedicated to the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Political Communication”. The event is organised by LabCom and will take place online on 10 and 11 December.

The seminar will discuss the impacts of AI on the public sphere and political communication, with particular attention to issues such as disinformation, deepfakes, algorithmic literacy, transparency, ethics and accountability in AI systems. The proposed topics also include the transformations brought about by AI in journalistic practices and in agenda-setting and gatekeeping processes, a particularly relevant theme in the context of OBIAJOR.

Abstracts may be submitted in Portuguese, English or Spanish, with a maximum length of 350 words. Each author may submit up to two proposals.

The submission deadline is 30 September 2026, with the results expected to be announced on 15 October. More information is available here.
