{"id":32668,"date":"2026-08-24T10:45:35","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T10:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/obiajor.ubi.pt\/?p=32668"},"modified":"2026-08-30T00:33:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T00:33:49","slug":"praticas-de-investigacao-em-ia-no-vi-melci-lab-autumn-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/obiajor.ubi.pt\/en\/praticas-de-investigacao-em-ia-no-vi-melci-lab-autumn-school\/","title":{"rendered":"FALL SCHOOL ON AI RESEARCH PRACTICES"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"site-bilingual-content-en\" data-no-translation><p>The call for proposals is now open for the VI MeLCi Lab Autumn School, dedicated to the theme \u201c<strong>Advanced School on AI Research Practice in Media and Communication<\/strong>\u201d, which will take place <strong>online<\/strong>, from <strong>10 to 13 November 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Organised by CICANT \u2013 MeLCi and AISIC Labs at Lus\u00f3fona University, the initiative aims to bring together PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and early-career researchers interested in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research practices in the field of Communication.<\/p>\n<p>The programme combines practical workshops and plenary sessions with international researchers, including: Dennis Nguyen, Utrecht University; Igor Kani\u017eaj, Catholic University of Croatia; Jo\u00eblle Swart, University of Groningen; Max Schich, Tallinn University, Estonia; and Petter T\u00f6rnberg, University of Amsterdam. The Autumn School aims to contribute to the development of skills in the use of AI tools while also encouraging critical reflection on the methodological, ethical and social challenges associated with their use in research.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed topics include the use of AI in literature searches, data annotation using language models, transparency in AI-generated results, media literacy, and issues of ethics, equity and inclusion in AI research.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals must be submitted <strong>by 15 September 2026, in English<\/strong>, which will also be the language of instruction.
